Greystones Theatre: Wicklow Artists Live Fest

Myself and fellow Bray cretin and Andre Nikitina fan Luke Broughan were given the savage opportunity of defacing numerous walls, halls and staircases of the Greystones Theatre for the Wicklow Live Artist's Fest that's happening this weekend coming. We were like scrubby Bray kids in sweet shops when we seen the scale of the area we were given to cover, so we got stuck in as best we could! Was rad collaborating with "the work horse" on such a large project, he just kept churning out a stream of radness, so much so that I could only find room on this blog for a fraction of what was produced. Its always easy to work when you're both feeling those ridiculous Niki-T bodhran beats.

The show opens this Friday eve around 6 with a slew of bands set to play the various stages in the theatre over the entire weekend.

I'm currently on the road as with my friend Al as he attempts a greuling skate from Ireland's most Southerly tip (Mizen Head) to Ireland's most Northerly tip (Malin Head) over 11 days all in aid of Muscular Dystrophy Ireland. I've taking up blogging duties for Al's mission and I'm also documenting the adventure to make a doumentary (duh). Daily progress can be foung over at the Skatinmizenmalin blog where you can also donate to a really really worthy cause, no amount to big or small, this charity is very worthy, spread the word if you can as awareness is very important, thanks!

About 5 years ago the corporate heads of The Boardroom industries asked me to create a special grape for a box social they were planning- I scoured the planet for the greatest grapes, moved to South Australia, acquired a vineyard, nurtured the grapes, squeezed them with my own feet and created this- Chateau Boardroom. They hated it, but said they'd keep the label..

After months of obsessive scribbling I'll be hitting the road for various reasons, one being the documentation of this amazing challenge Al Collins is taking on- He's attempting to skate from Mizen head, Ireland's most southerly tip, to Malin head, Ireland's most Northerly tip, in 10 days! All in aid of Muscular Dystrophy Ireland- What a champ!

Welcome! Big thanks to all who showed up for the opening night, had me a real good time! For the ease of those who can't physically get themselves to the show, I'll use the realm of internets to give you a walk through of the show. The show runs daily in the Boardroom, main st, Greystones (turn left out of DART station, last shop on the left) from 10am to 6pm until and including Saturday 19th of June. Before I begin the tour, here's a summarised context- The show is about mob mentality and how people's fears of what everyone might think can get in the way of their dreams or their true self. I used multiple homogeneous characters to form over-bearing figures so as you pass through the space you get the feeling of being outnumbered and small. A lot of the canvas works point to how the mob can be omnipresent, but the inclusion of some inspirational and unshakeable characters like George Hook & Eamon Dunphy show that the mob's opinion is only as big or important as you make it yourself.
Lets begin on the outside- The guys in The Boardroom let me have complete freedom with this project, so I couldn't resist sprawling the mural all over.

Here's the view as you pass through the door. I though it would be cool to incorporate the canvas work into the murals themselves, so, eh, I did.

I'm just getting back into the swing of things after a very rad week in the marble city. I was lucky enough to have the run of The Little Ghost Gallery for the week and I took full advantage!!

Before I go further I'm stoked to announce that 3 works from the SOMA show in January have been snapped up by the Waterford City municipal collection where it will be hanging out with renowned Irish artists Jack B Yeats and Louis Le Brocquy. Huh? Mad!

Super mad swinging high fives to all who made the effort to come down and check the show out- I know a few folk ha quite the journey on the evening of the opening night, much appreciated folks!
Special shout outs to Cris for helping me hang the show, Mick and Anne for providing the space, Luke for ripping some quality beats on the night, Val for cooking up a storm with her delicious themed buns and Ben for providing a rad selection of props and free pottery gifts for those who came along...and Kevin Tunney for providing any good photos you see here..cheers 'yall!

Here's the Artist Statement:

"I could never get my head around mob mentality. I've never been quite sure where my attitude for this comes from, but as far back as I can remember I could never understand why people would succumb to the ideas of a larger group even if they didn't share the opinion of that group. The people who inspire me most are those who don't regard the opinion of "The Mob" and just pursue the course that feels most natural to them, which is often following their passions.
As a human in Irish society today there are many seemingly inescapable clichés that go unquestioned. I found by using a very simple character in all of the works for this show that I could put some of these various common scenarios into a slightly ridiculous context, and therefore make these scenarios more questionable. Media, advertising, dress codes, fame, txt speak, idols, music, sport, public movement and opinions are some of the ideas that seemed most apt for me to illustrate what I was trying to get at, which is that there is no harm in questioning anything you do. Just because everyone else is doing something it does not mean you are obliged to participate also. "The next big thing" will be yesterday’s news in no time. Who says you need to spend your evenings in front of a flat screen HD ready TV? Who says you don't? Who says you need to ride around on a skateboard or spend hours on end scribbling to get the most out of your day? Do whatever floats your boat, or don't."

Getting pretty close to the opening of the show this Friday. Plenty of last minute goings on including a death dodging gerbil who underwent surgery, really!
For those thinking of breaking the Friday night habit of a lifetime and not staying in with a footbath, a bottle of plonk and The Late Late Show (doesn't sound too bad actually), well there is an alternative. Place your body in a carraige horse-drawn or not and transport your bad self to the Little Ghost Gallery, Coach Road, Dean Street, Kilkenny. Sure what else have you to do? Oh yeah, the Late Late. Well its me or Ryan Tubridy, they're your only two viable options, choose wisely, but don't choose Ryan, even if he is way better than cyborg phenom Pat Kenny. If I can't convince you then let fresh beats on the night from Luke Broughan sweeten the deal, metaphorically. Not hooked yet? Try Val Kelly's amazing cup cakes, also a deal sweetener, but this time quite literal. If not, then Ben O'Brien's magic interactive props are my last card to play.

Finally here's the final section and final upload from The Scrum Tilly Lush- Al Collins in Dublin. Al's section was done in between all the traveling to and from the other cities involved, therefore his was spread over a relatively longer period of time. As there was more time for his section it was a good opportunity to show a nice wide range of spots and also a nice amount of time lapse photography- most of which involved syncing my alarm with the sunrise, productive days!

The section also features Mini Brown, James Carroll, Paddy Clear, Gav Coughlan and Wayne Gallagher.

The nice people at The Little Ghost Gallery in Kilkenny are doing me the honour of hosting my first solo show on Fri March 26th @ 8 pm.

To simply sum up the show its a tongue in cheek look at having to supposedly comply to mob mentality in many aspects of life and society today.
I'm going to have a lot of new work on display that I've been flat out on for the last while. As well as that, Bray beat busta Luke Broughan will be providing smoove grooves on the night and also debuting his first album, good show!

There's a few extra little treats in store for the night in question to make it different from the usual well trodden opening night stuff, but you'll have to turn up to find out.

Speaking of turning up- here is Dean st, Kilkenny.

There's lots of accommodation very close to the gallery to suit all.

Too much to say about the SOMA show and how good it was/is. The show is currently running for the next 2 weeks at the SOMA gallery, 6 Lombard St, Waterford City. So pwap on in for a multi room viewing of all the goodness.
The main man behind this, Paul Hallahan, deserves serious props. He took this space from a derelict state and transformed it into the amazing multi room space you can see today. Complete with a video room, 3 spacious spaces and a few radical ramps, he went above and beyond the call of arty duty- take a bow sir!

I'm so stoked on the whole Waterford scene, they completely take advantage of whatever they have and have some real good attitudes going on, no moaning, just radness.

Occasionally i'll have a few knocks, bumps or irregularities that will require me to pay a visit to my doctor. This is how it usually goes- I make an appointment, go to the Doc's, sit in the waiting room, get called into the surgery, describe my symptoms, get diagnosed, prescribed further treatment/med, then I leave. Although my doctor may occasionally enquire about my general (non medical) well being she has never ever once busted out a guitar and screamed out a song about feeble grinds or the creature team. Nor have I ever seen her perform a handstand, not once on a skateboard or otherwise. I guess things are different in Sweden because that's what Perrr Mag's doctor does, really.

Below is the flier for a new show that I'm going to have quite a few pieces in a couple of weeks time in the SOMA gallery in Waterford. I'm pretty excited about this as I've been working through the winter to get the stuff done for it- the crappy weather lent a hand and I managed to get more done than i had expected.
What I'm most excited about is that Paul Hallahan and a bunch of the dudes running the show are installing a nice skinny old vert quarter as well as a manny pads and boxes, should be sick- don't have to depend on the weather to rip some pumpers to fakie brah'

Dublin just got a new indoor park after a long long time without, so in desperation I won't be hitting up the underground carpark in Carrigmines for flatspot sessions on that horrible shiny ground. Got to skate the park today, pretty fun, well done to all involved.

Anyway the "group photo" of the paint pals uploaded fine- so as you can see I've combined the sketchbook stuff with some landscapes based on some grimey stilsl from the vid- two from a factory in Belfast and one from Southbank in London.

Here's the next installment of The Scrum Tilly Lush - a few sweaty sun soaked days in the French capital with Roy Sunday & his large eye-browed accomplice Vivien Feil and all their muckers.
The sheer scale of this city really does warrant a local guide when trying to navigate from spot to spot, an aul drop of cheap delicious sauce is quite the tonic after a long days ripping in this urban sprawl, good times!
Special props go to Vivien Feil, the silent ripper who was always lurking and keeping an eye on my camera bag while I was too busy to notice, plus he kills it, good man!

Digital Hub

I was quite delireh' to find out that 3 sections from The Scrum Tilly Lush have been selected to be screened at The Digital Hub's "Projected weekend's" programme this coming weekend (11th-13th Dec) .
The sections will be screened for passing motorists, pedestrians, junkies and fixie hipsters up on Thomas street (above) with a second screen just around the corner.
One of the screens is located opposite the entrance to the Guinness store house, and you can find the other one on the map right here.

Looks like the holy grail might be hidden in the Guinness store house eh? Pity that shit leaves me with thumping headaches- Beamish is the way forward!

When i was over in foggy Landan town last time I picked up a bunch of little hard back books that I've been filling with sketches almost everyday since. I mainly draw in them when I can't control what I'm doing with my time- so if I'm waiting for a bus, might as well draw- same thing about being on the bus (hence the sloppyness) I also got some other housers to draw in them too, and they did way better stuff than me, but hey, fug it. Luke lashed out the top on in 5 mins when i knocked around to his gaff last week, I did the bottom one hafter seeing a PA system in a music shop in Dublin, big deal.

My lieben affair with Deutschland began at the tender age of 16 when I went on a schuleaustauch to the Bavarian town of Wurzberg with a bus load of other Bray cretins. It was quite the pleasant culture shock from the mean streets of the Braytrix to be greeted by smiling blonde beuaries, schools that imposed very very few rules, cheap beer, cheap delicious beer, a language I could kind of grasp and the ever puzzling cigarette machines in housing estates- why oh why were they not vandilised? I mean, they were in the housing estate, just like electricity boxes, there to be wrecked, but these contained smokes! A foreign concept indeed!
I subsequently returned to Germany a few times but had never made it to the capital until I ventured to Berlin late last year for an 11th hour filming mission with local all terrain rumbler Lennie Burmeister. I didn't know a lot about Leonard's skating and was pleastanly introduced to his home city with a savage display of footwork at some of the best spots I have ever witnessed, not to mention the good vibes, cheap beer, cheap wine and cheap beer. Berlin is a pretty inspirational city just to walk around, so many things to catch the eye to the point that I never had time to even contemplate bashing up any cigarette machines.

Any show that explores such importance themes as life, death and the current living conditions of a popular eighties Irish kids TV show gets my vote. "Remember me in 1983" came from the child brain of brain child Mick Minogue and was one of the funest shows I've been to in a while, not that I go to many anyway, but this one had a sega mega drive with street fighter 2 in it- Gibbo dutifully kicked my ass repeatedly at said game to win the title of most misspent youth.

Excuse the crappy camera phone pics, but in 1983 they woulda been top drawer sheeed, just like Bosco, but look at him now, poo-wur unfortunate soul/puppet.

Ruby Ayoub R.I.P.

A few days shy of her 6th birthday my girlfriend's little sister Ruby became quite ill- initially she was diagnosed with swine flu and sent home- again, she visited another doctor, and was once again diagnosed with swine flu, and although she was displaying similar symptoms she in fact had meningitis. As some of you may know time is precious in diagnosing meningitis, and that precious time was wasted with misdiagnosis as Ruby lapsed into a coma and passed away.

All that I can say on this unbelievable tragedy is that people should know the symptoms of meningitis- especially those who have or are around kids, because as we seen with little Ruby, doctors can get it very wrong and time is so so critical. If you scroll to the bottom of this page it takes about 30 seconds to read the symptoms of meningitis and septicemia - please read it.

How quickly things can get ourreh hand- what started as an originally themed night of drawing on pub tables (organised by Dublin graph shop All City) ended up in a clerical showcase.
Basically the theme of the night was to go to the pub and draw on the tables- Luke dutifully obliged with cheap marker mash up- yeah!
Here's my effort- sticking to subject matter I know and love- Bray.
Things weren't really up to much and the jubilant mood of my fellow Bray bollix's was dpping- so one google search on the phone and we were then turning our efforts and the posters for the festival into an array of retarded hats.
Serious stuff.
Full costumes weren't long coming.
Bishop Gibbons, of the parish Delgany, here to spread the good word of badly drawn aliens who peak over your shoulder and then catch fire because you left them on the candle.
Our marvellous hat related hi-jinx were proclaimed as heroics and we were subsiquently raised upon the shoulders of the publicans and declared true kings among bishops. "hail the lads from Bray" the crowd proclaimed- and who's blame them, we're deadly. No Bishop Brennan tho.

We Want Names Video

Below is a video I made for a band called We Want Names. It stars long standing Irish skateboarding muscle man Al Collins, the song, the bulk of the footage, the video, and the star of the show are all have one common thread... they were all made in Bray!
The bulk of Al's footy was shot on a Sony vx1000 that had no viewfinder, a broken exposure meter, malfunctioning shutter speed..well the works, but Al rips week in week out so I couldn't resist pointing the ol' shite cam at him to capture some of the badness. I'm glad that camera is dead now tho, trouble since day one.

With Bray's autumnal sun baked blaze out I've been waiting until sun down to get computer related stuff done- yesterday was no exception as I jumped in Wayne's mobile which took two Bray cretins (Marn dawg & I) to Athlone's new skatepark for the first time- Marn dawg floats a hardy above. yeee haaawr!
The park was not mch to look at in photees, but way radder to skate in the flesh form- lots of interesting lines, nice transitions and mellow ledges.
I even got on me knees to praise the park when Wayne floated by and I incidentally happened to capture his soul.
Anyway, the park was a welcome change to Greystones steep transitions- really fun day, neato gang!

Banned in Bray

If a band is from Bray and the members of said band endorse Beamish over Guinness and even provide said beverage at the launch of their EP, well, I believe that ticks all musical boxes to create a great band. The quartet in question are "We Want Names*" and they were launching their debut EP last night out of a skip around the back of Bray's southern cross industrial estate with afters tea and custard creams in the little flower hall. Above is skin thumper Seany Norgrove rising from the dead to distort my perspective on the world. (*pronounced in old school detective style)
Hipsters don't exist in the Braytrix, they'd just wither and die from the smell from the harbour bar jacks. Instead of hipsters we have spas, 4 prime specimems pictures below..

De-Gibbo'd

I'm gonna attempt to deconstruct the making of "Gibbo" a little so you can get some insight into what went into each scene. I'll start near the end in the little scene where skeleton Gibbo is painting the Alien picture in his big city ground floor apartment. Above is the early stages of the front of the apartment that I made with the help of Luke who professionally vandalised it for me.

I'd to do a lot of work the make the interior more "homely" while also maintaining of motif of "many faces on everything" So this painting was painted with as many faces as possible and hung on the back wall as the centre piece.
After that I'd to make the fish tank from a 3D photo frame thing- had to shoot this one on the ground from above even though it appears as an upright wall in order to animate the fish and its bubbles. Also I had to throw in some extra paintings to make it look like skeleton Gibbo had a nice body of work going. In keeping with the stupid amount of faces theme I gave every interior brick on the walls and floor a face.
As the room would be seen from outside and also outside could be seen from inside the room then I had to keep part of the city's background to make the room appear like it was in the thick of the big smoke.
You can also see a little TV in the scene for a split second, again, like the animated fish tank, this was to bring the room to life a little. It was basically an I-pod wrapped up playing the trailer to No Use. After all that carry on I had to shoot the thing which involved plenty of pain staking stop animation, but I believe it was worth it as the initial idea was achieved in the end.

I happened upon a show in the Rubicon gallery in Dublin that was actually pretty funny, imagine that? Amongst other things it was comprised of post its, man, I probably could fill the tate with the amount of poxy post it doodles I've done throughout the years.
The artist was Laurina Paperina, she should have seen what i produced in the dark days of bank employment, boredom pyschosis.

Seeing as she already did Leonardo I opted for the next best with the b'aul Splinter.

I took many of these screen schnapps offa' laptops as it was my gherro way of orientating myself around the bright lights of ratraceville. For the third time in my waking life I had once again found myself amidst the hustle and/or bustle of foggy Landan town.
The tubes are always the first thing to hit me- a full frontal assault on your perceptions- "Shit or geh' off th' pot mayte" is the general impresion I recieve as I attempt to retain my silly home grown politeness amongst the elbow throwing suit fwacks. Smelly corridors, offensive stares, hot temprematures and inasion of personal space all left me somewhat inspired.. really, I just find it bizzare how much people conform to the tube sterotype of being cunts, I mean, some folk just embrace it!
So upon arrival with my better half Christ-teen we did descend amongst most trendy free joints as the British portrait gallery, some baaaad shit there, well good baaad, but also shite baaad as Marty demonstrated, seriously, this took at least 7 minutes to complete.
Micheal Caine, good baaaad.
Micheal Doherty's school suppies of Main st. Bray had some seroius competition in this joint just outsida the gallery- 75% off and no loitering junkies, too good to refuse!

Had the fortune of witnessing the pixies in thier flesh and non compacted disc form in the brixtone accademy. good show-
No, really, good show! 2 encores and a standing ovation in the seated section that ruffled the feathers of the security dudes, oh the rebellion of it all.
Had to hit up an aul vintage camera shop in soho to replace my duty free damaged camera from the last trip- luckily they had a lot to offer and Landan town fulfilled its roll as cash vampire upon my replacement.
Low and be-hold, know who's the illest ever like the greatest story told- or so MF Doom would aptly spit to introduce the fantastic Mr. Jensen to this stage of the trip. I pried to indulge in Nick's current happenings and he was much obliging..Was a good first outing for my new recording device toy- gots to peep some work in progress thats part of a series too
I'll have to consult the audio to remember the motivation behind the series, but I do remember that Nick had to make some very strange sculptures and bring them to southbank and take flicks of them, much to the bemusement of the onlooking masses.

Art... serious stuff, hey-
Ah sure there's an aul smile- muchos gracias.. Nick was very obliging to show me what he worked and was working on, even to the stage where he made lucid word noises into amicrophone device- look for more of that on the HP site some time this century.
Apres digi mic stuff I hit up a verdy strange club built around the archways of Lodon bridge... pretty rad place upon the neglection of the threat of being disembowled at every shady dark archway in the hoose. "Fo' real" - went in the door, proceeded in the direction of the lights, only for them to extinguish/change colour/blind me- all to the soundtrack of distant opera set to cheering- felt like some eyes wide shut shit. Upon finding my hombres they reaffirmed my suspissions "yeah, its mad"
Skip to the next sunrise where I found my remains slouched upon an office chair in Kingpin corps meandering hallways. My presence there coupled with a coffee tasting caffiene induction to remind me that I was there to interview the notorious desk punching cee-gar chomping chief editor Alex Irvine for an upcoming documentary that I'm working on.
Somehow I lucked out on a 2 o'clock power meeting at Stockwell- dayum that park is fun, couldn't have axed for a nicer day too.
again.. serious stuff, no fake, no fake. Some poor fucker got ambulanced with a to-flat-bottom elbow slam. Another guy, upon collision, felt his knee do a very unexpected shimmy to the point of agony, only to get his head popped by an un-manned plank while suffering his first Ian Dury, bummer!
Was honhouerd by the dishonhourable presence of anuvah' Bray human Toe Knee. Good to see a fellow Bray cretin livin the hi low life the amongst the lobotomised masses of the big smoke.
Faaasht forward a whole earth cirulation and you'll run into the fantabulous motor mobile of Ben Raemers. For the good of the film Alex had taken a photo mish' upon himself, and the infectiously chirpy Raemers has obliged with muchos gnarlious suggestions.
Unfortunately rain clouds has planned ome other shit in advance so we dipped to the finest abanodoned warehouse Ipswich had to offer.. man, that town had a level of grimness I'd yet to witness (since leaving Bray to get the plane)
Ben obliged me with some in-depth in-pub eye-wide-shut words on Alex, allthewhile ignoring a sticker that someone had slapped to his brown bread. A couple of years ago Ben Reamers rolled his urethane on haggard Bray concrete as part of a Duffs UK tour. Such was the spectacular level of trickery from his Essex feet I decided to point at the fella with my camera- unfortunately my camera decided to play trickery on me with the viewfinder, exposure meter and white balance all going haywire- so I couldn't see a thing I was filming!- hence the footage looks shit. Fortunately Ben's hardcore rippage coupled with the prime movie location of Bray meant that I had two good reasons to salvage these coolio stunts from the depths of my 'ard-drive. All set to "morning tears" by Bray's very own WSL.

Look at the concentration, here's a kid that really takes interviews as seriously as they should be.

The aforementioned tah'ooos- jayzis, even the aul lad in the background is disgusted and he can't even see it. Ben and his filmer matey Gorm are making some serious playa moves with their own sticker/tattoo company "Visitor" Genuis.
Apres Ale house Alex and I had to catch the soonest off peak locomotive to get us back into the thick of the rat race- Fortunately for us Thomas the tank engine decided not to go anywhere for 2 whole hours, joy to the forking world. Luckily we'd purchased some beverages to pass the time, and I even hit the double bar jackpot in the vending machine- sheeed, I've never come up on such mad loot- watch out diabetes, I'm coming for your ace.
The good people at the national express decided to inform us (after a couple of hours) that there was a bus waiting to take everyone to the next stop. So long Ipswich, it was genuinely emotional. Really, I'm not messin'... 45 mins of an upright bus journey later we found ourselves in rainy Colchester, oh baby, i thought I'd died and gone to purgatory- especially when there was no train waiting for us... 5 hours behind schdule we eventually somehow arrived in a very crowded Liverpool St station. If you are ever considering visiting Ipswich, don't, its just too epic.
I seen this poster in a cafe jax the next day, kinda somes up the trip- a strange feeling of stoke despite the circumstances... can't wait to go back!

Had a rip roar of a weekend shredding both Gorey and Waterford concrete lump lands with my twin Gibbo, pity my knees now feel like peanut brittle after the 8 hour bus oddesy home, still worth it though.

Even managed a ramble around Cork citaay where I bumped into rad langers Nicky and Cal, good to see some Cork street rippage go down.

Also visited the end of the earth, aka Mizen head, Ireland's southern most tip. As you can see the world clearly ceases to exist beyond this point (apart from the odd Tupac apparition).

Here's a production still from the current short I'm working on that should give you a very small peek as to how the whole thing is going to transpire, as in there will be lots of giant props like this courtesy of the skilled hands of me mate Ben. (he's big hands)

..and tiny props like the later. Half the film is off at the lab and half of the new stock is on the way so there's lots of work on props at the moment. I forgot how much painting hurts my back, but hey.

Woah, sun? Yeah!
Spent the day filling a skip with my bro yesterday- we were getting rid of a couple of decades worth of collective dung from my parents place. Fisherprice garage, good clean fun.

I had a stack of old boards, felt bad chuckin' em, but you've got to me ruthless when filling a skip. there's a few notable memories on the grip there- "men wirreh gee" came from an infamous Barcelona trip where a man with a tuppence was spotted on the cover of a blue tinted motion picture- man, they display the most heinous dvds on the street in Bareclona.
"Jim Evans 4 life" refers to a wrestler- you know when you're a kid and you cling to anything spectacular about your name- well the best we could find was one of those Wrestlers who was just there to get nailed by a bad guy, a filler, a dummy, or a "jobber" as its known in the biz, poor Jim Evans never stood a chance.

"Kiss me flaps" is an old tale from Bray that i best not repeat in order not to incriminate anyone.

I couldn't throw out my first "real" board- A Santa Cruz Jeff Hedges, got it second hand, swapped for a stratt guitar and a few quid. It had rat bone wheels, risers, one red indy truck and a pre grooved gullwing I think. The big emphasis from the seller was that his mate worked at an airport and gave him bearing from an airplane- and he would be pissed off if I didn't look after them.

Here's what remains of my first actual board,a "Rad rat-a-tat-tttt"- I only would push around on me knees- I think the truck snapped after a day- plastic shite.

2 clips from the depths of hell were brought to my attention by two fine young cannibals, I just can't decide which is best, both are so cutting edge. I publish a pole on the blog to see what the masses think, but considering only Denis Lynn and the cat from the second clip are reading, I feel the results might be inconclusive.

Regardless of which clip is "better" I think two important questions need to be answered, what were the lads looking for when they found these? Question #2- judging by the content of these clips has society peaked?

New Zealand, why not?

Or so the fake prop tourist board poster in Flight of The Conchords says, why not indeed. I was anticipating Melbourne so heavily that I'd kind of neglected to give New Zealand a lot of thought, so when we left Aus for their very sparsely populated neighbours, all I had expected were nice folk as the majority of kiwis I've encountered have been real nice people.

Anyroad, we flew over, and even upon flying over the place looked so epic and unspoiled, which was to be a running theme of this journey. The scenery and climate reminded me of home, except 10 time more epic. We didn't have a lot of time there so we were restricted to the south island, but we so much to see we didn't spend much time doing nothing- case and point right here demonstrated by Cris posing for a picture AND standing on a log at the same time, way to maximise your potential and exploit your multi-tasking predisposition C-dogg.

Was I speaking office? Sorry, its from being stuck on a bus full of retired sharks! We took a coach trip around the south island which turned out to be mainly populated by retired American tourists and the odd Japanese tourist, all of whom were equally weighed down with camera gear and khaki pants that went up far too high. With either you had to be quick off the mark with the aul soul catcher- look at this fugger, poachin' some scenic gold like its no one's business, oh golly.

Along the way we were luckily to encounter some designated leisure roll areas, man, 2 of the best parks ever- the top is in Christchurch- it has 3 inter-linking mini ramps that'll give even the most hardened street vet a good time, and the lower one is in Queenstown, which is devoid of any traditional tranny but instead has Jersey barriers and quirky bank configurations to beat the band, highly original and a provider of endless good clean fun. Swell.

Ireland's national feast day happened to fall while we were in Queenstown and the locals really took to it, even if they weren't that sure what it was about, apart from getting plastered.

We celebrating by jumping off a bridge with giant elastic bands attached to our feet. Upon booking the bungee an imminent feeling of cringe halted me from requesting a discount for being Oirish and jumping on Paddy's day- but after I'd paid it turns out there was a discount for that exact situation- jokes on you paddy, sheeeed!

Being conscious of racking up some mad exxtreme points we went jet boating through a gorge. The boat could go over very shallow parts of the river and the pilot did his best effort of pretending to kill us, much to the delight of a Japanese pensioner sitting in front of me, rarely seen a human so stoked in all my lifetime!

We capped off out Paddy's day extremities by getting a chair lift up a mountain and coming back down on these luges, basically glorified go-karts, lame helmeted fun was had.

Then back to the park for a few wallies, possibly one of the the funnest feeling tricks- up there flat bar front boards and fs 5.0s on tranny.

Man, this guy, I christened him Bill due to his resemblance to the Microsoft peddler, straight outta middle America and ready to educate the world on stuff he's never encountered. At every coach/boat stop he loudly dictate to his daughter and wife the workings of this mysterious land. At one point on a cruise though an epic fjord he noticed small aircraft flying overhead- part of a tourist service to get a birds eye view. Bill felt the need to give their overpass through the fjord's valley a nice commentary. "See that, loogadat!He's gonna swing left lookadat!" Plane swings right. "He's gonna swing right, see" His powers of observation did not end there as the plane's climbed to pass over the near-by mountain peaks "lookadat" Again, louder this time so the whole boat can hear "Look at that, see that, he's headed straight for that mountain, lookadat!!" Cue plane manoeuvring away from mountain "HOLY BUCKETS, you see that?!!" Yeah!! Right on!

See that? Yee shall not pass! Lots of the stuff we seen was featured in Lord of The Rings, wonder if Bill was the locations guy.

We passed a town that honoured the sheep dog, jaypers tenite!

We encountered several breath-taking and genuinely unspoiled scenes like this (mainly due to low low population) Would be a nice place to live.

Lemon and Lime bitters, the bundaberg ol' time soft drink people just keep churnin' em out. Neato.

I don't know why the photos start uploading on the right there, maybe Morgan's catmate flatmate has something to do with it. I don't trust them cats.

None the less, we found ourselves inside Queen Victoria's claimed land's capital, Melbourne. Here's Cris rolling into the state border like she don't give a fug.

I was really looking forward to Melbs, it had easily been the highlight of my year long sojourn in Oz a few years back, plus I always like going to the cities where you can catch up with mates and indulge in local shenanigans.

Apart from maties, ye olde parklands of radness are always waiting there to temp my sweat ingulfed size 11s. I'd never hit the park below before, and its city view and melow vibe gave it a nice street spot feel. Still didn't help me in games of skate, Max and Jordan showed me who was boss. (not me)

Smorgasboard Campbell, just recovering from knee surgery and shreding the mad like a rad man. We're not pointing at our swolen intelects, we're pointing at our sweat levels, I'm at about an 8 after 2 minutes of mid-day sun shred doggin. Morgan has a magic shirt that indicates where he's at.

Morg's hits up the new most excellent mini ramp adition to the Coburg park, fwack this park was rad, but now its radder, bastardos! He's not sweating in this one so his shirt remains numberless until the first trickle.

Good ol' Max can shralp a five-zero without the aid of his head neck and shoulders, impressive!

I was never a water baby, so it comes as no surprise that I tend to flail like a drowned rat in any water holding device, such as a skateboarder pool dog hangout. Fitzy bowls are fun, even for my crippled ass.

Chocy pizza is also fun, especially when preceded by Haloumi cheese pizzas, all cheap cheap and good to eats.

St Kilda beach was a surprise, last time I was there it was packed to the hilt with lobster burned fuggers like myself for some shite festival. This time was far better, as some rad spots were found and jelly fish got told what was what.

Stopped by citypark on the way back from the saints beach, its changed a litlle with some nice tranny additions, but is still tre' rad.

Ain't no rip like a Bug driven rip!

We found ourselves in Max's bug a few times, and each time we either ended up at a rad spot, park or eatery, good shit ma' man!

I stayed on Max's couch last time round for ages and ages and I repayed him by training his bug in the art of human chomping. This technique was based on the venus flytrap principal, easy pickings.

Prarahn park- old bowl truned street like- we caught up with Max & co at this park the day after a multi spot shred, and frustratingly so my pale legs couldn't keep up with the pace, so we opted to catch a flick while they hit 5 parks. Yeah 5! Jayzist! We saw Rachel getting married with Anne Hathaway, 2 hours I'll never get back, Christ is sucked. Jayzist Christ.

My Ned Flanders daytime brews of deliciousness adventure continued in Melbs with some good ol' sasparrilly, fan-diddly.

Prior rockin' a hardcore 40 of ginger beer, no-one does that shit like those hicks in Bundy.

My da used to have the knickname Fad, nothing to do with a sweeping trend of chalky sweets, just some other reason my childish mind couldn't grasp.

In the spirit of lame quips, this city is quite the cultural "hot pot". Good selection of food and tom foolery on at all times. Chorizos e dark choco, good sheeed.

Remember that episode of the Simpson's where Bart discovers he's had a twin living in the attic? Well maybe that episode explains Bart's popularity, as twins are inherintly more popular people, they're the result of a happy genetic accident and wether we like it or ot, we prefer twins, they're just cool.

I've always wondered where the fascination with Gibbo came from, for years I resigned it to his sickening dark witt, blunt honesty and sharp snobish dress sense. Now I've discovered that all those things are irrelivant, Gibbo is fascinating because he is a twin, we just didn't know it. Well good ol' cap'n crunch, unlike the animated yellow rude boy Bart, has known all along about his twin, but he's kept his dark secret to himself until now.

His twin didn't tell me his name, he doesn't really speak, he just gets stuck into his cut price cans of Lidl beer. They share a room out in Delgany where they bro down, talk about girls and get locked, true twin bonding.
Look at this pic above- Gibbo was out of the room, but his bro drew on that ol' twin power and knew exarctly what Gibbo was thinking. "I'd love another dozen pairs of vans"
Gibbo came back into the room, his big bro (he was born 5 seconds before Gibbo) whispered what he thought Gibbo was thinking, and sure enough, he was right. His bro doesn't even wear shoes and he knew this! Amzinck!
On a side note, Gibbo found this photo inside an album sleeve in the old Bray tape exchange place that used to be down by the old DART station. You just don't get that type of random quality from high street record shops or downloads (unless they somehow embed a link to the pair on the right in your latest tune) I wonder if these girls are from Bray? Gibbo's bro doesn't care, he was too busy drawing attention to the cool can of coke in the foreground, he knew its his sibling's favourite drink.
